Race Report - 07/06/09
Club Meeting
Another good turnout of drivers with some new faces yet again, In Stock Touring Brad Sellars did very well, James Holliday joined the 1:12 class and Daniel Lambert joined the Pro Stock Touring class.
The track layout came from Chris Hudson and Charles Butterworth and was a good balance of speed and technical sections, it certainly kept the drivers on their toes!

1/10 Stock Touring
Dave Allen stormed to TQ with his Hot Bodies Cyclone, 19 laps in 304.08 seconds and beat the Pro Stock class by eight tenths of a second (flying as usual) Peter Ellis lined
up second with a quick 18 lap run from his Associated TC3. Third on the grid went to Charles Buterworth's T2'009 as the quickest 17 lap run. Peter Sinclair took fourth, four seconds behind Charles
and ahead of a great debut for Brad Sellars taking fifth place with his Schumacher Mi3.5. Special mention should go to Brad Allen who managed to hang on to tenth place to make the 'A' final
15 laps. The 'B' final saw Gary Dearing on pole with his Cyclone on 14 laps ahead of Martin Taylor on 13 laps (what went wrong?!) and Stuart Smith, who is surely due some good luck soon.

The 'B' final saw Martin Taylor lead the first two laps before retiring, leaving Stuart Smith out in front, taking the win on 15 laps. Gary Dearing took second on 13 laps, ahead of Aidan Speight on 12 laps.
The ever-consistent Dave Allen did the business in the 'A' final with another 19 lap run, Peter Ellis had a couple of errors but was happy with his car taking second on 18 laps.
Good driving from Charles Butterworth and Peter Sinclair gave them third and fourth place respectively. It was a shame Brad Sellars retired at just over the 3 minute mark as it was looking like
a third place finish up to this point.

1/10 Pro-Stock Touring
The Pro-Stock class was re-invigorated with a few more drivers and the return of Adam Howe and Scott Hazlewood. Qualifying was a close battle between Adam, Scott and Schumacher driver Lee Spencer
running the new Schumacher Mi4 car. Adam went quickest in round 1 with Lee taking the top spot in rounds 2 and 3. The final round saw Adam moving ahead once again
on 19 laps in 304.88 seconds, less than 3 seconds ahead of Lee. Scott took third place, a further eight seconds down, with Lee Carter fourth and Ben Putt fifth.
Onto the finals, in the 'B' it was Peter Gill winning on 17 laps, ahead of Joe Speight on 16 laps with Daniel Lambert third on 13 laps. The A final saw Adam ahead of Lee for the first few laps
then a slow lap from Lee enabled Ben Putt to move up to second place. At the flag it was Adam winning on 19 laps ahead of Ben on 18 laps with Lee third, less than 2 seconds down. Gareth Wilkes
did a great job to move up from ninth on the grid to take fourth after his switch to the Pro-Stock class.

1/12 Circuit
The 1:12 class was better supported this week, unfortunately for Darren Houghton all the effort to come to the meeting was in vain after
speed control issues early in the day. So we were robbed of seeing Darren's driving brilliance which was a shame, however Bob Hill carried the torch
and took all four rounds of qualifying. Bob's quickest run was 32 laps, a full 11 seconds ahead of Chris Hudson with another CRC car. I was impressed yet again with Adam
Smith's driving with his Xray XII car, third on the grid with 31 laps. Vincent Formosa had a better day today (in the end) with fourth on the grid. James Holliday lined up sixth with his Associated RC12L3, his first time racing for
eight minutes.

Unfortunately the 1:12 final wasn't as good as it could have been, pole man Bob Hill should have taken an easy win with his Calandra car and led for 24 laps before retiring.
Rob Shepherd was running his GT-10 BMI DB10R and had a couple of coming togethers with Bob which ultimately meant the leader retiring. I'm sure these were 'racing incidents', however this gave Rob the lead and
changed the order entirely. In the end Rob took the win on 31 laps with Adam Smith moving up to second on 30 laps and Vincent third on 29 laps.

Next meeting is on 14th June 2009
